6 Trends For SS20

As each day brings a few seconds more daylight, our thoughts turn to the transition from cool to warmer climes. And that translates to the wardrobe staples that will see us through the special occasions, the general days, and the journeys. These are the looks that you'll continue to champion and the ones you'll covet in the coming season. This summer's show is one of reinvention and revivalism where sharp meets soft, and signature staples are the backdrop.

Bright in white

If you'd like to channel light, innocence and purity; this summer, white is the hue for you! It was a favourite last season and set to brighten our spring and summer once more.

Dresses speak volumes

The reimagined opulence of the past is still present in one of today's favourites; from last year to this, voluminous floor-length gowns are again sweeping us off of our feet.

Crisp Cuts

The ultra-feminine look is tempered with masculinity; from the cool, minimalism of sharp, tailored suits, and crisp cotton. And if masculine is your thing, you'll be pleased to hear that shirts and waistcoats, those button-down bastions of tailored wear are set to be your summer staples.

Entrenched

As for outerwear, there's one coat that keeps on giving, whether in traditional tan or with a twist, we still love the trench, and it's our coat du jour for SS20!

Reveal it

Show your body confidence in cutaways and sheer fabrics a la Molly Goddard and Dior. A few seasons ago, sheer layering over trousers and separates had us reaching for the chiffon. This season, designers dare us to go bare.

Stay Bright

If innocence and purity aren't your things, get playful in a riot of colour. The catwalks served up acid brights to enliven every wardrobe and to evoke the child in all of us.

There was one designer this season who encapsulated many of these trends, a favourite with us; Jamie Wei Huang. The SS20 Collection entitled OCD talked of 'the process of moving through repetition in an obsessive space and finding infinite details' the show was not just about a completed collection but a journey from initial idea to the catwalk. We already have some of these pieces pegged for our summer wardrobe!
